Sedation
IV Sedation for Nervous Patients
If the thought of dental surgery makes you anxious, you're not alone. Many of my patients have put off treatment for years because of nerves. With IV sedation you'll be deeply relaxed, and most people remember very little afterwards. It means you can finally get the treatment you need, calmly and comfortably.
How IV sedation works
I give the sedative through a small, gentle needle in your hand or arm. Within minutes you'll feel calm and drowsy, but you're still awake and can respond to me. I monitor you closely throughout. Once you've recovered, you'll go home with a friend or family member.
Who it helps
- •
Anxious or phobic patients
- •
Longer or more complex procedures, such as wisdom teeth or implant surgery
- •
Patients with a strong gag reflex
- •
Anyone who finds it hard to sit still in the chair
For milder nerves, I can also offer oral sedation – a tablet taken before your appointment to help you relax.
Told your case is complex, or too nervous to go ahead? You're in safe, calm hands.
